"Well it seems we have company" Jason commented when he glanced up to see the door swinging open to their room.

"Oh yeah state the obvious, I can see" Charlie replied in a quieter tone with amusement lacing his tone.

"You try to make the rhymes harder" Jason accused glancing at the other boy "what rhymes with see?"

"Well tea, me, tree, pea ... really anything that sounds like flea" Charlie innocently replied with a shrug.

Alex had been shown to the room at the headquarters were she was told the magic mirror would be and then the fairies who had escorted her there had flow off somewhere else. Alex rather wished they had stayed. She was used to them, at least. They hadn't changed at all since she had written about them. She had been told the magic mirror was a different story, however.

Sure enough, when Alex mustered her courage to enter the room and face the unknown, she found a pair of red-headed identical twin fairies rather than any kind of a mirror. "Odd," She commented, more to herself than to them. After all, they wouldn't answer just a single word. It was not paired with a rhyme nor a riddle, and those were the only things the Magic Mirror answered... unless if that had changed as well. But Alex assumed it hadn't which meant she had to come up with one of those rhymes to ask what exactly she was supposed to do here. So she took a moment to think before saying, "I am Alex, your author, who is supposed to save you all. But how am I supposed to prevent Fairy Land's fall?"

"We are honored to meet you, we have waited patiently" Jason replied nodding.

"Of course we knew who you were, coming here was your destiny" Charlie continued carefully as he surveyed her.

"You alone can save this world, our lives depend on you" Jason began in answer to her riddle.

"To find the key, believe in me, and think what would my writing do" Charlie proceeded to add.

"This world was fiction but now its real, and it needs your help" Jason began the final verse.

"But to save it, you must do exactly what you think one of your characters would, yourself" Charlie finished.

"Well, yeah, but that made it rhyme," Alex pointed out. Of course she knew that they would know who she was, but she couldn't make her inquiry alone rhyme as easily. However, Alex immediately fell silent as she listened to their answer. Though the answer was more of a second puzzle than anything. But she had expected that, really. The Magic Mirror never answered any other way.

But, after a good five minutes of standing there thinking, she was verily sure she got the basics. She had to believe this was all real, something she was only half way towards achieving, and she had to figure out how her story would end. That could be tricky since Alex wrote as her story went along. She didn't know how it would end yet.

Alex didn't even know were to start with this information, though, so she decided to attempt to acquire more, though she wasn't sure if the mirror would give it to her. She decided that figuring out who she was taking the place of might help, and she spent another couple of minutes thinking up a rhyme for that before asking, "So much has changed, so many have died. So which of you is it that will be my guide?"

"You are the dead, you are the fallen" Charlie carefully explained.

"For through you they must live, and not be forgotten" Jason added.

"Though the Queen can be sovereign, she must learn to obey, you know" Charlie continued in a thoughtful tone.

"And guide you through the forest where no-one else dares go" Jason finished.

"Fools rush in where heroes fear to tread" Charlie hastily decided to add last moment.

"But Heroes survive where fools end up dead" Jason completed and they went silent.

Alex nodded slowly as she started processing this. Again, there was a pause in the conversation- if you could call it that. Really, it was more of an interview. Anyways, there was a break in it as Alex thought over what they had said. Eventually she decided that it meant that she had to b everyone who had died and Queen Victory would lead her through the woods. And she thought the last bit might be a warning to be careful.

Alex once again decided to pry to get a little bit more information. This time, she found she was getting into the rhythm of the rhyming and said almost immediately, "So I go through the wood, were no one else would. But were does it end? To were do I go to mend?"

"No-one knows where it goes, because no-one has been" Charlie admitted slowly.

"But perhaps the murder scenes are something that needs to be seen" Jason continued with a wink.

"Think like an author but act like a creature that the world doesn't think will last" Charlie proceeded to bring the rhyme to its close.

"In order to see the future you have to know the past" Jason finished.

Alex once again thought this over quietly. It seemed as though one of them had actually given her the first real bit of advice, a place to start. Look at the places were her characters had died. She should probably at least start with the ones she already wrote since they said she needed to know the past before she could move on. The answer to her actual question wasn't really helpful, though. The only other important thing that she had gotten was that she needed to think like the person making everything happening but act with the desire to keep living, as though she were a character.

This determined, Alex felt she was done asking questions. For now, anyways. She had been given a place to start. She would find her way from there. In the meantime, Alex smiled slightly as she looked at the two red-heads. "I think I like you two as the twin- it's definitely an accidental win." She commented, this time automatically speaking in rhyme even though she didn't really need to since she wasn't asking a question and didn't really need the Magic Mirror to respond.

"Well the twin thing we can live with, what is awesome is having personalities and just on demand" Charlie replied with a bright grin.

"You try spending eternity just telling people who is the fairest in the land" Jason agreed with a nod.

"I mean we could tell you your lottery numbers, or whose going to win the grand national, which horse" Charlie continued as though it was obvious.

"But are we ever given anything fun to answer? The answers no of course" Jason finished with an overly dramatic sigh.

Alex laughed a little before agreeing, 'I suppose that wasn't exactly fair, was it?" It did seem dull to constantly just answer that one question. "Plus, the personalities definitely do fit." Alex then pondered the rest of what they were saying and said thoughtfully, "So you want an interesting question answer?" Eventually she decided on, "In this land, who is the best dancer." Then she smiled with amusement and added, 'I hope it's one of you two- watching you dance would be funner than going to the zoo and watching cows moo."

Alex had written the mirror's lines as well as those speaking to it for so long that she now found herself able to just get in the flow and not actually have to think before she spoke. In fact, she was even enjoying the game of rhymes.

"The best dancer, now that is tricky" Charlie replied with mock thought.

"It depends what style of dance you mean, you see" Jason continued.

"If its ballet your after than the fairies are typically best out of all" Charlie decided.

"But just ask Logan to show you his break dancing - pride doesn't always come before a fall" Jason finished.

Alex smiled with amusement. Yes, she decided. She definitely did like this change, at least, in the fairy tale world. The Magic Mirror seemed to make interesting and amusing people. "So I don't get to see you dance, then?" She asked, sounding rather disappointed. She had actually been hoping to see that. She thought it would be fun to watch. "Well, let me rephrase the question: Will you dance for me, my men?"

"Go to the wood, with Queen V" Charlie decided after a moments whispering with his twin.

"Work out the problem, find us the key" Jason continued with a firm nod.

"Then when you return, if your lucky and true" Charlie concluded.

"We will dance for you" Jason finished with a wink.

"Right," Alex muttered at the reminder of what she had to do. She wasn't here to joke around and have fun with her characters. She had been brought here to save the fairy world. Whether she actually believed in them or not, she still figured she should go along with the adventure and help them... just in case. So she turned towards the door and said, still instinctively speaking in rhyme, "I guess I should go fight the unknown enemy then, with all my might."

The twins saluted and then returned to what they had been doing. Which was playing a game of tennis using a small thimble and two rackets made out of twigs. They never left their room and so they had to find other ways to entertain themselves. They were not like the other fairyland creatures. They did not have genetic ability to have emotions. They merely had their fortune telling and the idea to know when they were bored.
